London: Prince Harry apparently voted for Nancy Dell’Olio three times during the last series of British reality show, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as he wanted her to win the competition.
He also considered Dell’Olio to be the “funniest thing about the show”.
Harry, 27, reportedly approached Nancy, 50, during a raucous night out with star pals including David Beckham and James Corden at London’s swanky Arts Club in Mayfair.
“Harry was on brilliant festive form and enjoying a few drinks. When he spotted Nancy, he immediately went over and proceeded to talk all things Strictly,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.
“He said his entire family were fans of the show, and told her he had wanted her to win the competition. He also said he was keen to see her on the Strictly live tour.
“Nancy loved it when he claimed he even voted for her, although she wasn’t entirely sure if he was being serious. Finally he asked her to dance – and suggested she teach him the tango,” the source added.
But at that moment Dell’Olio probably became unusually shy and refused to take the third in line to the throne for a twirl.
She politely told him that she would not be wearing her dancing shoes again until the New Year and instead spent around 15 minutes chatting to former England skipper David Beckham.
According to friends, the Prince and the Italian lawyer met around 10 years back, when she was dating former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
“They are old friends and loved catching up with one another,” a source revealed.
“The prince was as charming as ever. It was a really unusual and random group of revellers. Nancy was in her element as she flitted from footballers to royalty and back again,” the source added.
