London: A new book has claimed that actor Tom Cruise wanted to make Scientology a tax deductible charity.
Thesun.co.uk reports that according to the book titled ‘Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief’, the actor had asked former US President Bill Clinton to use his friendship with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to help Scientology get a greater foothold in Britain.
However, Cruise was told it would be better if he got in touch with Blair`s wife Cherie, as she would "understand the details".
But the actor had to face disappointment. In 1999, an application for charity status in England was rejected as it had no "public benefit".
