‘Thrifty’ Lady Gaga got drunk to sign tax cheques

Washington: Lady Gaga apparently had to get drunk to sign off on her taxes this year because she was required to pay a huge sum to the US Internal Revenue Service.

The thrifty pop superstar has admitted that she hates paying out large cheques and she needed a little alcoholic help to face her biggest tax bill yet. In a taped TV interview with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, which will air in America on Friday the Poker Face singer said that she had to take the help of alcohol to sign her tax returns this year. “When I signed my tax returns this year, I had to get completely wasted. They (aides) were just holding me up. It’s unbelievable,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying in the interview. The money-conscious star insisted that it was due to her careful habits that she hasn’t bought a home for herself yet. “I’m a gypsy... I think, ‘Well, gosh, what a waste of money to buy a place and I’m on the road. Even though it might not seem like a big deal because I’m a pop singer or whatever it still hurts to write a cheque. It’s a lot of money,” she added. ANI
