5,536 new cases take Karnataka`s total to 1,07,001; active cases at 64,433

There are 4,96,988 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, while 9,52,744 patients have recovered and one person has migrated.

  • Chhattisgarh: 277 new cases were reported in the state today. The total number of cases in the state surged to 8,257, of which, 2,772 are active cases and 46 deaths.

  • Maharashtra: The total cases rise to 3,91,440 with fresh coronavirus patients of 7,717 in the last 24 hours. 282 fatalities took the death count to 14,165. (Read more here)

With a record single-day jump of 47,704 COVID-19 cases, India's caseload climbed to 14,83,157 on Tuesday, while recoveries surged to 9,52,744, according to Union Health Ministry data.

The country's death toll rose to 33,425 with 654 fatalities being recorded in a day, the data updated at 9 am showed.


There are 4,96,988 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, while 9,52,744 patients have recovered and one person has migrated.


The recovery rate stands at 63.92 percent, according to the data.


The total number of confirmed cases also includes foreigners.


This was the fifth consecutive day when COVID-19 cases have increased by more than 45,000.


According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 1,73,34,885 samples had been tested up to July 27. As many as 5,28,082 samples were tested on Monday.
