Mumbai: Bollywood star Salman Khan has been busy voicing his angst about the current state of affairs of the country on Twitter.
The actor had also begun an online campaign urging people to sign a petition to free the falsely accused Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, currently languishing in Kot Lakpat jail in Lahore. Apparently, Sarabjit’s sister and his daughters met Salman on the sets of ‘Dabangg 2’ seeking his support. Talking to reporters, a source said, “Today, Sarabjit`s sister and daughters had come to meet Salman. They met him on the sets of Dabangg 2 at Mehboob Studio.” Sarabjit`s sister Dalbir Kaur is actively working towards the release of Sarabjit. Sarabjit, who is married to Sukhpreet Kaur, has two daughters-- Poonam and Swapnadeep. The star plans to hand the petition to the Pakistan government to secure the release of Sarabjit, who has been on death row in Lahore jail since 1990. Salman had earlier tweeted, “Requesting the people of Pakistan to support me to help free Sarabjit who has been in prison since 30 yrs . Please..Allah ka vasta (sic).” “It would be the most amazing gesture, to send Sarabjit back to his family after 30 years . Hope u support me like it’s your own cause. B a part of 1 family`s happiness. Wanted to tweet this for the longest time, saw a pic of Sarabjit’s sister, it killed me. Felt really sad for her. Help me help her. Its a personal request to all of u in Pakistan to send Sarabjit back to his family in Punjab. Hope u find it in your hearts to help and to people from all over the world. Thx for your support. Am planning an online petition (sic),” Salman added.
