Flood in desert: Heavy downpour brings Qatar to standstill

Qatar was brought almost to standhill by heavy rains on Wednesday. Several schools and offices were closed in the desert country following water logging. Flight movement was also affected at Doha's Hamad International Airport. Area around the airport recorded the heaviest rain - 66 millimetres.
Reports say that US embassy in Doha has also been closed down due to the rains.
The Interior ministry has requested drivers to be careful in view of heavy rains.
