New Delhi: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has denied reports that his mother being the reason behind his split with actress Deepika Padukone, claiming it was their own individual choice.
Ranbir, 30, and Deepika, 27, began dating when they met on the sets of `Bachna Ae Haseeno` in 2008 and the couple split after a year.
"It`s an issue between two individuals, but people work on several theories and then disturb things. My mother loves me a lot and wants me to live my own life. My mother is also very fond of Deepika. So, at least this was not the reason for the split. I want to clarify, my mother was not the reason for the break-up," Ranbir said on Rajat Sharma`s TV show `Aap Ki Adalat`.
There were reports that the actor broke-up with the `Cocktail` star because Ranbir`s mother Neetu Kapoor did not approve of their relationship.
Ranbir attended the show to promote his latest release `Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani` alongwith co-star Deepika.
However, the actress says that despite their break-up Ranbir continues to be one of her good friends who gives his feedback on her performances.
"We have been friends since our break-up and shall continue to remain friends," Deepika added.
In Ayan Mukherji directed film, which hit theatres today, Ranbir is seen doing some similar dance steps as his uncle Shammi Kapoor in `Badtameez Dil`.
On being compared with the late `Junglee` star, Ranbir said, "Let me tell you a big secret. Shammi Kapoor was technically not a good dancer. His steps were wrong, but his greatness was that he brought wonderful expressions while dancing, whether romancing or enjoying himself on screen. I never tried to copy his style. People say there is some shadow of Shammi Kapoor on my dancing because of my family, but I`ve never copied him."
Ranbir also expressed his desire to work with three Khans - Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir - in a film.
"Even if they just stand behind my sofa, with me in front, that film would be runaway hit," he said.
The show will be aired on June 1.
