Billy Bob Thornton thought ex wife Angelina Jolie was ` too good for him`

London: Billy Bob Thornton has revealed that he “blew” his marriage to Angelina Jolie because he didn’t think he was good enough for her. The Oscar-winning actor, who was married to the ‘Tomb Raider’ star from 2000 to 2003, said that being with the beautiful actress made him feel like a hideous monster.

“Angie, I felt, was definitely too good for me and at some point, if you believe somebody’s too good for you, you’re going to mess it up,” a leading daily has quoted him as saying. “I always thought I was sort of Quasimodo or the Phantom Of The Opera hiding in the catacombs. And when I was with her I think that really reached its heights,” he added. He later went on to speak about his failed marriage to the Hollywood beauty. “I blew it. When you’re in a relationship, any two celebrities or whatever, you know, I think that puts on a lot of pressure. When Angie and I got married, during that time, I was more famous than she was to start with and then she becomes this big thing, it’s hard in these relationships. People have actually said that I didn’t deserve to be with her,” he said. But while Jolie has moved on with fiance Brad Pitt and their six children, the actor said he has remained “good friends” with her. Writing in his new book ‘The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts’, he said: “We’re great friends and always will be. I’m proud of the way she’s handled having a family. She’s great for Brad, Brad’s great for her. I support them 100 per cent. Angie is a little girl and a woman and a teenager and a ghost all wrapped up in one.” Proving how close they are, Jolie wrote the foreword in the book, describing the director as a funny guy but similar to a “mad mathematician”. “He has an unmatchable wit and can make you laugh until your face hurts.To be with him is like being with a mad mathematician. He is constantly counting and repeating. Some people walk through life able to quiet the voices in their heads. He can’t. And I, and everyone else who knows him well, we love him for it,” she wrote.
