Babumoshai remembers his Anand

Mumbai: They have done some memorable films together which are deeply etched in our minds even now. Although they shared camaraderie onscreen, off screen Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were pitted against each other. In fact, when Bachchan entered films, he sort of dethroned Kaka from his superstar status. But on Wednesday, Amitabh Bachchan stood mute in front of the still body of his old contemporary. The superstar went to Aashirwad the moment the news of Khanna’s demise broke out. Later at night the superstar took to twitter, and wrote, “- What can one say when a colleague, a most important member of the fraternity, younger than you passes away..Rajesh Khanna no more !(sic)” “I stand mute in front of his still body, with nothing crossing my mind ... just disbelief, and a reverence to his departed soul !!(sic)” The iconic star also humbly admitted that the word ‘superstar’ only belonged to Kaka. “The word `superstar` was invented for him, and for me it shall ever remain his, and no others .. !!(sic)” the actor tweeted. “His generation and the generations that follow, shall never be able to describe, or understand his phenomena .. !! Just the mere mention of his name `Rajesh Khanna` sent myriad images of fanfare, awe, and reverential mention !! At his home earlier today, someone close came up and told me, his last words were `time up ho gaya - pack up !!`(sic)” On Wednesday, Babumoshai lost his Anand forever. And this time the gramophone did not boom out his voice.
