Madurai: The Chithirai Festival began at the famous Sri Meenakshi temple here today with the palanquin carrying the presiding deity taken around.
The celestial wedding of Goddess Meenakshi with Lord Sundareswarar would be held on May 2 and Car festival on May 3,according to a release here today.
The procession deity would be taken in various vahanas during the ten-day festival.
