Washington, Jan 15: Now that Salma Hayek’s young daughter has started speaking French fluently, the Mexican-American actress is regretting faking the death of her own tutor to get out of learning the language.
The 42-year-old actress gave birth to daughter Valentina with her ex-fiance, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, in September 2007.
And now that her baby girl is becoming more fluent in French, English and Spanish, the actress is kicking herself for concocting a murderous scheme to escape language classes.
"This is a tragic thing. I don`t speak French really well - but you know, I could have. When I was about 17 or 16, my parents sent me to Paris to study at (University of Paris) La Sorbonne for the whole summer - an intensive course, six hours a day with a private tutor and staying with French nuns,” Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
"A friend from Greece called me and said, `What are you, crazy? You`re going to spend your whole summer locked up in a classroom?`
"So we came up with a plan and I called up my parents and told them the tutor died, and it was too late in the game and they couldn`t find any more tutors."
"So I went to Greece instead, and now I`m really sorry I killed that tutor because it would`ve been really handy to speak French," she added.
