Mumbai, March 21: Abhay Deol made a shaky foray into Bollywood with ‘Socha Na Tha’ and ‘Ahista Ahista’. But with films like ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’, ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’, ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’ and ‘Dev D’, it seems the youngest Deol puttar has finally found his groove. At a time when the Bollywood is going crazy about well-sculpted bodies and stars are hitting the gym with a vengeance, Abhay seems to be an unconventional actor standing miles apart. With the phenomenal success and critical acclaim of ‘Dev D’, Abhay Deol has finally arrived - breaking the jinx of being a non-saleable solo actor. According to the dimpled actor, scripts and director have always been a top most priority while choosing a film. Talking about his Bollywood journey and his work to a news channel, Abhay said, “I have been not been lucky enough to get big banners. ‘Socha Na Tha’ and ‘Ahista Ahista’ did not fare well at the box office, but I was appreciated.” Abhay accepts that the B-town industry goes by an actors market - if the star is bankable enough, he is bound to get big banners. Knowing well that he has a limited market, Abhay said, “Smaller banners rope me, as they are unable to woo big stars.” Talking about awards, Abhay has a strong opinion, “A commercially successful actor will definitely get an award.” Being seen in not so typical Bollywood potboilers, when asked about his favourite masala film, Abhay just loved ‘Om Shanti Om’. When enquired about his bachelor status, the actor was quick to add that he is single but dating. Hailing from an illustrious Bollywood family, with yesteryears mega star Dharmendra as uncle and Sunny and Bobby Deol as cousins, Abhay went ahead and chose flicks with his own gut feelings. With his new found fame and critical acclaim, this Deol lad seems to be heading to the right direction!
