Indian Railways to allow armed escorts to travel in goods trains items prone to theft

Indian Railways will allow armed escorts to travel in goods trains carrying commodities susceptible to theft and pilferage, in a first in the country.

The plan will initially be cleared for the Eastern Railway. It will then be reviewed after six months.
