Mumbai underworld: All about the turf war between Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan

New Delhi: While mafia don Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan was finally arrested in Indonesia, India's most wanted man and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim still continues to find a safe haven in Pakistan.

Rajan parted ways with his boss Dawood and his D-company after the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the two have been fierce rivals ever since.

All about Chhota Rajan's gang

Rajan, the powerful aide-turned-rival of gangster Dawood, established his full-fledged gang in 1993 and shot to fame in 1995.

He has around 24 men based in Mumbai and is involved in real estate and brokering business.

Prominent gang members who were once with Chhota Rajan and later parted ways with him are: - Hemant Pujari, Guru Satam, Ejaz Lakdawala, Ravi Pujari, Vicky Malhotra, DK Rao, Bunty Pandey and Bharat Nepali.

While, Hemant Pujari separated from Rajan and began taking extortion money from hoteliers, Guru Satam and Ejaz Lakdawala split with the arrested mafia don in 2000.

After the split, Satam formed his group in South Africa and Lakdawala started targeting Bollywood bigwigs.

Ravi Pujari also operates his own gang from Malaysia.

Abu Sawant - a close aide of Rajan - is said to be still with him and taking care of his entire underworld business.

Vicky Malhotra, who was once considered to be close confidante of Rajan, is now in jail.

Robber-turned-gangster DK Rao used to control Rajan's business from jail.

Bunty Pandey is said to be running his own group.

D-Company

Dawood's D-Company has around 150 members in Mumbai and the underworld don has alleged strong connections with NCP, Congress and Samajwadi Party.

Dawood has wide reach and with his clout he has brought several splinter groups of Hemant Pujari, Guru Satam, Ejaz Lakdawala, Ravi Pujari, Bunty Pandey under his own umbrella.

The D-Company has deep connections with top cops and politicians.

Besides setting up bases in major Indian cities, Dawood's empire is spread across foreign countries including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Singapore, United Kingdom and Dubai.\

Dawood is accused of aligning with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence and support terror groups targeting India.

Besides this, he runs a huge international drug racket. Dawood's men are also involved in inserting fake currency to destabilise the Indian economy.

Chhota Shakeel is the most trusted aide of Dawood and is responsible for his entire operations in India

Anees Ibrahim, younger brother of Dawood, takes care of D-Company's business in Dubai.
