PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stone for redevelopment of 5 Railway Stations in Tamil Nadu: IN PICS

Chennai Egmore, Katpadi, Madurai, Rameswaram & Kanniyakumari stations are to be redeveloped into divyang-friendly stations with upgraded passenger amenities.

The revamped stations will offer pleasing ambience coupled with upgraded facilities such as escalators, lifts, stairways & skywalks.

"I am particularly happy that five railway stations are being redeveloped. This modernisation and development is being done keeping in mind the needs of the future. At the same time, it will merge with local art and culture" said PM Modi in Chennai. 

"History has taught us that those nations which gave topmost importance to infrastructure made the transition from developing to developed countries. The Government of India is fully focussed on building infrastructure that is top quality and sustainable" PM Modi said. 

Redeveloping Railway Stations at par with world-class standards that promise to meet the requirements of the next 40 years. These stations aim to provide enhanced passenger comfort & convenience, said Indian Railways.
