Beijing: Nine people were wounded today by a knife-wielding man who went berserk and attacked them near a supermarket in southern China, the fifth such incident this month in the country.

A man in his twenties attacked people near a Hualian supermarket in Jiangnan District of Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Nine people were injured in the attack.

State-run Xinhua news agency reported that a suspect has been caught by the police and a probe has been launched.

A host of knife attacks by disgruntled elements have been reported in China, mostly targeting children.
