On February 1, 2017, Lamborghini will add a second topless Huracán to its lineup - the Huracán RWD Spyder. Overall, it will be the fifth variant in the Huracán lineup, after the Coupé, Spyder, RWD Coupé and Avio (special edition). The Huracán RWD Spyder is essentially an open-top version of the RWD Coupé and shares the same engine, transmission and rear-wheel-drive setup.
Powering the Huracán RWD Spyder is a naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that cranks out 580PS of power and 540Nm of torque. The engine has been tuned in such a manner that 75 per cent of the torque is available at 1,000 rpm. The oomph is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and enables the baby Lambo to hit 100kmph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds. Lamborghini claims that the top-speed of the Huracán RWD Spyder is 319kmph, which is identical to its RWD hard-top sibling. Thanks to gigantic steel brakes on all four wheels, the deceleration is equally impressive. The Huracán RWD Spyder can come to a complete halt from 100kmph in less than 32 metres of braking distance.
The Huracán RWD Spyder gets redesigned front and rear ends. It boasts larger front air intakes that help direct cooling air and headwind to increase down force on the front axle. The car gets Pirelli PZero tyres, wrapped around 19-inch Kari rims. The fabric roof, which is electronically operated and features audio insulation, can be raised or dropped in 17 seconds at speeds up to 50kmph.
There is an ANIMA button that controls, um, different drive-modes of the Huracán RWD Spyder. The Italians know how to make you giggle, don’t they?! Anyway, ANIMA in Lambo-world stands for Adaptive Network Intelligent Management and the driver can switch to Strada - for daily use, Sport - for sporty driving or to Corsa - for no nonsense, race track-oriented driving.
Let’s wait until this beauty officially launches in about a week’s time from now. Prices for the Lamborghini Huracán RWD Spyder are expected to hover around the Rs 3.5 crore mark (ex-showroom Delhi).
