ঘটনার ৬ দিন পর টুইট করে চিয়েলিনির কাছে ক্ষমা চাইলেন সুয়ারেজ। বিশ্বকাপ ফুটবলের গ্রুপ পর্যায়ের ম্যাচ চলাকালীন প্রতিপক্ষের ফুটবলার চিয়েলিনির কাঁধে কামড়ে দেন সুয়ারেজ। অপরাধে টানা ৯ ম্যাচ তাঁকে নির্বাসিত করেছে ফিফা। বিশ্বকাপ মাঝপথে ছেড়েই দেশে ফিরে যেতে হয়েছে তাঁকে। অবশেষে টুইটারে চিয়েলিনির কাছে ক্ষমাপ্রার্থী সুয়ারেজ।
