Mumbai: There were reports suggesting that Shahid Kapoor isn’t keen to work with Katrina Kaif. But the hunk of an actor has put all speculations to rest. The Udta Punjab actor, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Padmavati, took to Twitter to refute speculations about the leading lady in his next - Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Shahid reacted to a report by saying: “Total Rubbish (sic).”

The movie directed by Shree Narayan Singh of the Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame is already making some buzz in B-town.

The 36-old-actor will play a lawyer in the movie which focuses on the issue of highly priced electricity bills, a common problem for the citizens.

We have seen Shahid essay a variety of roles in a career spanning over 14 years starting with Ishq Vishk in 2003. Before making his presence as an actor in Bollywood, Shahid worked as a background dancer and even appeared in a few music videos.

The Bollywood heartthrob has played a lover boy, a comical characters and a troubled youth in films and has wowed movie goers by his performances. Interestingly, his collaboration with Vishal Bharadwaj has brought out the best in him – Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon – have been some of his best film as an actor.  And now, for the first time, he has teamed up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Padmavati, a film which has been embroiled in controversy from the very beginning. Here’s hoping the film releases soon.

Coming back to Batti Gul Meter Chalu, light-hearted social drama jointly produced by KriArj Entertainment and T Series is slated to hit the silverscreen on August 31, 2018.
