Malayalam movie shortlisted for Oscar

New Delhi: In a first for the Malayalam film industry, one of its movies has been nominated for the most prestigious cinematic awards in the world – the Oscars. ‘Akasathinte Niram’ (Colour of the Sky) has made it to the top 282 films list the Oscar jury has drawn up in the ‘Best Picture’ category. Written and directed by Dr. Biju, the movie revolves around a burglar who’s trapped on a scarcely populated island and his getting to understand how nature blends with life. The movie was screened at California, Laemmle Theater at Fallbrook starting November 2nd to 8th as part of its Oscar qualifying run.
