‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked’, is a script with no appropriate head or tail. It is an example of a typically established name, and the sequel turning out to be a disaster but given its first impression, we choose not to criticize it or dislike it too much.
One of those no-point stories this one is. Chipmunks get stranded at an island in this film; of course it does not start off as that but that is where it leads to.
Dave (Jason Lee) and his band of musicians are on their way to a concert. Instead of taking a flight they decide to sail on a cruise. Now as they begin their journey, things begin to go wrong, as predictable it as this may sound. The film continues with lack luster creativity, one after the other incidents like these leave Dave frustrated Ian (David Cross) annoyed.
Now that Ian is back in this film, his patent role of disliking Chipmunks carries on without any innovation put into his character.
Now Alvin, who is known to be not always obedient and usually gets all of them into trouble does his cliché damage again this time.
He is told to stay in his cabin but decides to disobey Dave and heads out to the ship`s nightclub for a bit of gambling. As usual, Alvin`s plans backfire. The Chipmunks and Chippettes wind up overboard and eventually end up on a deserted island. They figure Dave will come along to rescue them, which Dave does.
The film ends with a happy ending, but the script is predictable. The first two films of the same franchise have been entertaining but the repetitive characters and ridiculous script is turning the Chipmunk films into monotony.
That dull script and boring gaps will make viewers feel irritated and the film seem like a drag. But if you are a huge Chipmunk fan maybe giving this one a fair chance is not a bad idea.
Rating: Two cheers for this one!
