Mumbai: Aamir Khan, who has refrained from attending Filmfare Awards and other such events since long, has now resorted to a self-imposed ban on National Awards and even the Oscars!
Reportedly, Aamir’s first home production, ‘Lagaan’ made it to the Oscars, but the coveted trophy eluded the film which got nominated in Best Foreign Language Film category. However, the perfectionist star now seems to have had enough of awards and has decided not to send any of his films for nominations. Talking to a tabloid, Aamir made candid confessions and said, "I want to stay away from these awards. As a production house, we would not actively apply for any award henceforth. I am not even sending `Dhobi Ghat` for the National Awards." "I am not objecting to the awards or questioning them either. As a producer, I am not going to send my films,” he added. As an actor, Aamir has been a director’s boy but as a producer-director he only sticks to his convictions, which is why he has had differences with Amol Gupte (script writer of `Taare Zameen Par`) and Anusha Rizvi (director of `Peepli Live`). And off late he has started believing in indulging in things that hold value for him. Moreover, audiences` response is what matters to him the most. “That`s about it. I want to spend my time making films. I will spend my time doing things that mean something to me and not indulge in things that hold no value for me. For me, audience response is of paramount importance. Awards aren`t. That`s it," concluded Aamir.
