Los Angeles: American pop star Christina Aguilera, who recently released the devil-may-care artwork for her new single `Not Myself Tonight` admits she has gone futuristic with it.
On her 2006 album `Back to Basics`, the 29-year-old singer went retro with a sound that referenced music from the `20s, `30s and `40s, but on her new album, she is going for a sonic landscape that`s ahead of its time, a news magazine reported.
"`I`m so excited and I have had an idea for a futuristic feel for many years now," Aguilera said.
"It`s always been in the back of my mind to do a more futuristic sound. I was inspired by artists that I am collaborating with on the album. Folks like Sia, Ladytron and
Goldfrapp," she added.
The Grammy-award-winning singer was also inspired by her 2-year-old son, Max with Jordan Bratman whom she wed in 2005.
"I felt like it couldn`t been a better time or place for me personally, also as a new mom," Aguilera said.
