Leonard Cohen cancels Hawaii show, adds 3 dates

London: Leonard Cohen will no longer get to venture into the Hawaiian surf during the tail end of his world tour.
The Canadian folk poet has scrapped plans to perform in Honolulu on Dec. 4, with his promoter on Wednesday citing "prohibitive and insurmountable logistical issues." Instead, Cohen has added a date at Vancouver`s Rogers Arena on Dec. 2, and a pair of shows at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, Calif., on Dec. 5 and 6, promoter AEG Live said. The Hawaii show was announced on Sept. 7, one of four marking the final leg of Cohen`s tour. Unaffected by the cancellation are the concerts scheduled for Portland, Ore., on Dec. 8, and Las Vegas on Dec. 10 and 11. Ticket holders for Hawaii will get a full refund, and first shot at tickets for Vancouver and Oakland, AEG said. Cohen, 76, emerged from a 15-year semi-retirement in May 2008 to crisscross large arenas around the world, and will have played more than 240 shows by the time the trek ends. He is currently touring Germany. He plans to return to the studio next year to record his first album of new material since 2004`s "Dear Heather." Given that he can take years to craft a single song, AEG has warned that Cohen will be off the road "for some time." Bureau Report
