Men steal jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of repairing locks
A family in Rail Enclave, Pratap Vihar called locksmiths to their house to repair a lock but were looted in turn. The locksmiths reportedly opened the safe inside an almirah and fled with jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh.

GHAZIABAD: A family in Rail Enclave, Pratap Vihar called locksmiths to their house to repair a lock but were looted in turn. The locksmiths reportedly opened the safe inside an almirah and fled with jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh.
The burglary took place at the house of Mahesh Srivastav who is a retired railway official and his wife who is a government teacher. They had bought the jewellery for their daughter, who is getting married soon.
The family went to Vijay Nagar police station, but police officials refused to lodge an FIR since they were busy preparing for the upcoming civic polls.
The two locksmiths came to the locality regularly. Mahesh's wife called them inside the house at around 10.30am on Saturday. The residents claim that the locksmiths kept sending her of the room to get something or the other during which the theft took place.
