Mumbai: After the super-success of his critically-acclaimed Amitabh Bachchan starrer film ‘Paa’, director R Balki now seems to be coming up with something equally exceptional. According to the latest buzz, Balki is on the verge of finishing a script, for which he intends to cast Hollywood legend Meryl Streep or B-town actress Sridevi to play the lead role opposite none other than the Big B.
Believe it or not, but Balki is actually all set to choose between Meryl and Sridevi to play the romantic lead in the film that he`s scripting with Amitabh in mind. However, the filmmaker hasn’t approached any of the two actresses as of now.
Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Balki is actually working on two scripts. One of them is a cross-cultural love story. The other is a desi romance about two people past the supposedly permissible age of romance. The director would opt for Sridevi if Meryl Streep doesn’t work out."
When asked if it would not be difficult for him to get a big wheel like Meryl onboard, Balki said, “That’s the least of my worries. Getting an international star is not half as difficult as it is made out to be. My concern is to make sure that the script justifies the casting.”
On the other hand, megastar Amitabh Bachchan appeared to be clueless about the venture, as he said, “Balki has not spoken to me yet about this. But we are meeting soon to discuss the matter. Nothing has been decided yet.”
