Mumbai, Sept 21: Lahore Rugby Football Club from Pakistan would be participating in the 74th Vodafone Essar all India and South Asia rugby tournament starting on Saturday at the Bombay Gymkhana Ground.
The annual tournament, which is being played since 1924, alternates between Mumbai and Kolkata. This year, the tournament has attracted 13 teams, including last year's winners Chennai Cheetahs for whom Indian star Emil Vartazarian will be seen in action.
The other leading teams which are to take part in the tournament, set to conclude on Sept 29, are last year's runners-up army 'a', Kolkata's LMOB, Calcutta Cricket and Football Club, Maharashtra state police and two teams from Delhi-Lions and Hurricanes.
"The pakistan team is expected to reach here tonight and all their travel formalities, including securing visas, are over," Indian Rugby Football Union President Pramod Khanna
said.
"In fact, the team from lahore is scheduled to play tomorrow against Delhi Hurricanes," he added.
