Agra North Election results 2022: The assembly election results for Agra North Vidhan sabha seat that falls in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district are out. BJP's sitting MLA Purushottam Khandelwal has decimated BSP’s Shabbir Abbas by a huge margin of 1,12,370 votes. Agra North voted in the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections 2022 on February 10.

BJP fielded sitting MLA Purushottam Khandelwal from Agra North seat, while the SP-RLD alliance nominated Gyanendra. Congress fielded Vinod Bansal and Shabbir Abbas is the BSP candidate.

BJP MLA Purushottam Khandelwal has won back his Agra North Assembly seat. Khandelwal has bagged 1,53,817 votes and 63.89% vote share, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Abbas is at the second position with 41,447 votes and 17.22% vote share. SP's Gyanendra emerged at the third spot with 34,403 votes and 14.29 vote share. 

BJP candidate for Agra North Vidhan Sabha (Results declared) 

BJP gave ticket to 60-year-old Purushottam Khandelwal, who won the byelection from Agra North in 2019. The bypoll was necessitated following the death of five-time BJP MLA Jagan Prasad Garg. In 2017, Jagan Prasad Garg of Bharatiya Janata Party had won the seat by defeating BSP’s Er. Gyanendra Gautam with a margin of 86320 votes. The Agra North seat is dominated by Bania community and has been a BJP bastion since 1985.

BSP declared Shabbir Abbas as the Agra North candidate for 2022 Assembly polls. Abbas mentioned petrol pump dealership and tanker plying as his profession in the affidavit. In 2017, BSP's Er. Gyanendra Gautam had bagged the second position.
