  • Maharashtra records 14,492 new coronavirus cases, 297 deaths in the past 24 hours.

  • Mumbai: 1,134 new cases and 32 deaths were reported today. The total number of positive cases jumps to 1,35,357, including 18,298 active cases, and 7,385 deaths.

  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Saturday (August 22, 2020) said that there were more than 1 million COVID-19 tests across India in the past 24 hours

    "Keeping to its promise of exponentially increasing the daily COVID-19 tests to 10 lakhs, India has crossed the significant milestone in its fight against COVID today. In a testament to the determined, focussed, consistent and coordinated efforts of the Centre and the State/UT governments, India has conducted 1 million tests in the past 24 hours. With 10,23,836 tests done yesterday, India has achieved its resolve to test 10 lakh samples daily, said the MoHFW.

  • Puducherry: 520 new cases and eight deaths were reported in the UT today. The total number of cases in the state has increased to 10,112, including 3,654 active cases, and 151 deaths.

  • As part of the Centre’s Unlock 3.0 guidelines, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has written a letter to the state governments stating that there shall be no restrictions on the inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods, sources said on Saturday (August 22, 2020).

  • India recorded the highest single-day peak of 63,613 COVID-19 recoveries in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare health bulletin released on Saturday (August 22, 2020).

     

  • The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday (August 22, 2020) said that West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand are likely to witness 'very heavy rainfall' between August 24-26.

    "Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha during 24th-26th August with extremely heavy falls on 25th and very heavy falls over Gangetic West Bengal on 25th & 26th and over Jharkhand on 26th August," said the IMD in its latest weather bulletin.
