India coronavirus, COVID-19, March 31: 23 new cases reported in Delhi, total number of cases rises to 120
India saw the highest jump in the number of coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours as the government reported 227 new cases escalating the coronavirus crisis in the country. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the total number of coronavirus-positive cases in India has risen to 1,251 — this includes 1,117 active cases, 102 cured/discharged/migrated people, and 32 deaths.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the total number of coronavirus-positive cases in India has risen to 1,251 — this includes 1,117 active cases, 102 cured/discharged/migrated people, and 32 deaths.
Meanwhile, the Union Finance Ministry on Monday (March 30) denied the news circulating in some section of media that financial year has been extended, and termed it fake news amid the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
The government also said there was no immediate plan to extend the 21-day lockdown period and the Indian Army dismissed as 'fake' social media posts about a possible emergency declaration in April.
The worldwide tally of coronavirus COVID-19 deaths reached 37,638 with 784,314 positive cases, according to Johns Hopkins University's latest data. Italy and US have been the worst-hit nations with the former witnessing the most deaths (11,591) and the latter having the most number of confirmed cases of 1,63,429.

Madhya Pradesh: Number of coronavirus positive cases reached 44 in Indore. 17 new cases were reported on Monday night. On March 29, 40 samples were sent by the health department to Bhopal labs, out of which 17 samples were tested positive.
Tamil Nadu has implemented containment plan in 12 districts which includes - Chennai, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Ranipet, Vellore, Salem, Virudhunagar, Ariyalur, Erode, Thanjavur, Tiruppur and Chengalpattu. These are the districts where positive cases have been reported. Till Monday, over 3.96 lakh people in these districts have been surveyed. The strategy involves forming a 5 km radius containment zone around the residence of those who have tested positive and an additional 2 km buffer zone. Healthcare workers would carry out active and passive surveillance on a door-to-door basis. 2271 ground workers have conducted inspection at over 1.08lakh homes and covered 3.96 lakh people.
Rajasthan: Four positive cases reported till 8 am which includes a 44-year-old man with travel history of Dubai, a 17-year-old girl and two 60-year-old patients. The total number of cases in the state has gone up to 83.
