Photojournalists stage protest after J&K police assault
A group of photojournalists staged a protest on Thursday, demanding the immediate suspension of the Jammu and Kashmir police personnel who assaulted two of them outside the residence of Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Srinagar: A group of photojournalists staged a protest on Thursday, demanding the immediate suspension of the Jammu and Kashmir police personnel who assaulted two of them outside the residence of Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Tauseef Mustafa, a Srinagar-based photojournalist was beaten up by a policeman while he was trying to click pictures of Huriyat leaders who came out after the meeting ended at Geelani's residence.
Mustafa told ANI, "We were restricted from going inside by the police personnel and were badly assaulted while taking pictures of Huriyat leaders who came out of the residence on completion of meeting."
It is alleged that the J-K police official claimed that they belong to Special Operations Group and threatened to fire the photo journalists on performing his duty.
Journalists claimed to continue their protest till a strong action is taken against the official at fault.
