Patna: A Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Bhagalpur district of Bihar on Saturday morning, reports said.

As per the report, Yadav was sitting along with few others at Naugachia market when at least six bike-borne miscreants came and opened several rounds of bullets at him.

The RJD leader died on the spot, an eye-witness told media.

Police said that preliminary investigation suggested personal enemity as the cause behind the killing.

Yadav was known as a famous underworld don in Naugachia subdivision of Bhagalpur district. As a matter of fact, Yadav was a criminal before he took up politics and was locally known as 'bahubali' for the kind of power he wields in the area.

Vinod Yadav was an active leader in RJD and had played a key role in Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

Yadav's supporters blocked roads and burnt tyres to protest the attack.

Three days ago, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ashok Jaiswal was shot dead in Patna's Danapur locality.
