Keshubhai Patel reappointed as chairman of Somnath Trust

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) former chief minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel on Tuesday reappointed as the Chairman of the Somnath Trust for the year 2016.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) former chief minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel on Tuesday reappointed as the Chairman of the Somnath Trust for the year 2016, while party president Amit Shah was appointed as the Trustee in place of Late Prasanvadan Mehta, a freedom fighter.

Chairman and president of UAE-based Dodsal Group Rajan Kilachand, however, resigned.

The appointments came at a meeting of the Somnath Trust here on Tuesday under Chairmanship of Keshubhai Patel, and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP veteran LK Advani, Harshavardhan Neotia, chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, and PK Laheri, former chief secretary, Government of Gujarat, as trustees.

The Trust reappointed Keshubhai Patel as the Chairman for the year 2016 and Amit Shah was appointed as the Trustee in place of Late Prasanvadan Mehta, while Rajan Kilachand resigned.

The Prime Minister stressed on the need for establishing Somnath Temple as a premier religious tourist destination.

He also suggested building a state of the art virtual museum and auditorium.

In this regard, the Prime Minister also suggested that a tourist circuit should be created connecting Somnath, Diu and Gir Lion Safari.

The Trust decided to add many more tourist attractions.
