RPI chief Athawale gives 'Dalit' angle to Chhota Rajan's arrest, says 'he did nothing against nation'

New Delhi: In India, it takes a few irrational remarks to give a communal colour to any issue. Now, Republican Party of India (A) chief Ramdas Athawale feels that infamous gangster Chhota Rajan was arrested due to his Dalit background.
Questioning Rajan's arrest, Athawale even went on to say that he did nothing against the nation.
“He did nothing against the nation, yet he got arrested. Dawood is still free. Is it only because he is Dalit?” ANI quoted Athawale as saying.

"Not against Rajan's arrest but Dawood has committed more serious crimes. India has not been able to nab him despite info available," he added.
Underworld don Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan, a former aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, was arrested by the Indonesian police in the tourist resort of Bali, Central Bureau of Investigation informed on Monday.
The CBI had issued a red corner notice against Rajan on the request of the Mumbai police after he fled India in 1995. He was wanted for running an organised crime syndicate beside serious crime including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and possession of illegal fire arms.
