New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is likely to undergo a kidney transplant on Saturday, a media report said.
Citing sources, IANS reported the operation may take place around 8.30 am.
AIIMS director MC Misra and surgeons VK Bansal and Sandeep Agarwal will be part of the team of doctors who would perform the transplant.
The organ for Sushma's transplant was being harvested from a living unrelated donor, according to the report.
Before a transplant, it is essential the recipient and the donor are fit for the procedure.
Apart from the surgeons, a team of doctors from other departments have also been constituted to monitor her health.
Swaraj, a severe diabetic patient, was undergoing dialysis whenever required.
