New Delhi: A 16-year-old Delhi boy, who went missing a year ago, was reunited with his family after police traced him in Srinagar through a social networking site.

On May 9, last year, Rekha Devi, a resident of Khajuri Khas area, claimed that her son did not return home from tuition. The family searched for the boy and when they could not find him, a case of kidnap was registered at Khajuri Khas Police Station, said a senior official.

"During investigation, police came across a Facebook profile which seemed to be that of the boy. It also came to light that the boy had chatted with his elder brother Pawan on Facebook from November 2015 to April this year but did not reveal his location," the police official said.

"With help of the Cyber Security Cell, the details were obtained and he was tracked down in Srinagar where he was working with a rice merchant," police said.

During questioning, the boy revealed that he had run away as his father rebuked him for not studying up to his satisfaction. He had worked as a waiter in marriage functions on his way to Srinagar, the police officer claimed.
