New Delhi, Oct 29: Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Mohd
Afzal, whose conviction and death penalty was today upheld by
the Delhi High Court in Parliament attack case, will file an
appeal in the Supreme Court within two weeks challenging the
verdict, his lawyer said.
"We have not seen the judgement as yet but will file the
appeal within two weeks for Afzal after going through the
verdict," his counsel Colin Gonsalves told reporters.
He said the principle ground for approaching the apex
court would be same as was before the High Court that the
accused did not receive adequate legal representation during
the trial.
Besides, the media inteference in the case would be the
other ground for the appeal as police after arresting Afzal
had called the electronic media and made him confess before it
which had "prejudiced" the case against him, Gonsalves said.
He said other grounds for appeal would depend upon the
merits of the case.
