Patna: Firing a salvo at BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi days ahead of Bihar polls, RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Sunday charged that the ruling party at the Centre had no intention of bringing back black money as it had promised it would.
The former Bihar chief minister alleged that Modi was more interested in shielding his capitalist friends and BJP leaders than mopping up unaccounted money stashed away abroad.
"BJP does not want to bring black money back because all the millions and billions of rupees belonged to the capitalist friends of Modi and BJP leaders," Lalu said in a tweet today.
Prasad further said that the saffron outfit was fighting a losing battle with the help of "black money power" in Bihar.
"Bihar me hatash, udas, nirash ho chuki BJP hari huyi ladai ko apne kale dhan ke nange nach se jitna chahti hai. Bihariyon ne thana hai, Bhajpa ko bhagana hai (The dejected, sad and disappointed BJP wants to win a losing battle using black money power. But Biharis have made up their mind this time to defeat BJP)," he said in another tweet.
Bringing back black money held abroad was one of the promises made by Modi at the time of the Lok Sabha polls.
Opposition parties have attacked Modi for saying that "Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh" can be put in every individual's bank account" once black money is recovered.
Prasad has consistently targeted Modi and made fun of his style of speech at the Swabhiman rally at Patna recently. He recently even used the online application 'dubsmash' to mock Modi.
Lalu put up a 'dubsmash' video of 18 seconds on twitter recently in which he lip-syncs Modi saying "Rs 15-20 lakh would be deposited in everyone's bank account".
Dubsmash is a video messaging application which allows users to choose audio clips or songs to record a video of themselves lip-syncing it.
Bihar Assembly elections will be held over five phases between October 12 and November 5. The results will be announced on November 8.
