Kuala Lumpur: An Indonesian farmer was detained for threatening to blow up a plane at a Malaysian airport after check-in staff asked him to remove items from his excess baggage.
The 61-year-old man got agitated after he was asked by the check-in staff at Penang International airport to remove certain items from the bag as it had exceeded the baggage weight allowed.
He then threatened?to blow up the flight, but the staff immediately called police and he was detained, witnesses were quoted as saying by the Star paper.
He was ordered by the magistrate to pay a fine of Rs one lakh or in default six months' jail for the offence.
The farmer, however, apologised for his action and paid the fine.
