Mumbai: Mika Singh has jumped into the ‘loudspeaker’ debate triggered by Sonu Nigam’s ‘forced religiousness’ tweet on Monday. Mika, who belongs to the same fraternity as Sonu, belongs to a different school of thought.
Mika, who is controversy’s favourite child, believes that Sonu must change his house and stay elsewhere if he has a problem with loudspeakers at places of worship.
Responding to one of Sonu’s latest tweets on Wednesday, Mika said, “Big bro I respect u lot as a singer .. I think you should change your house and stay somewhere else instead of changing loud speakers (sic).”

Guys Gurdwaras, Mandirs, masjids and churches aren't only for loud speakers. They represent charity, langars and honourable things.., — King Mika Singh (@MikaSingh) 19 April 2017
Fatwas have been reportedly issued against Sonu for making such a statement but the singer is least perturbed. He has welcomed the action against him and has himself volunteered to shave his head. Sonu tweeted:
Today at 2pm Aalim will come to my place, and shave my head. Keep your 10 lakhs ready Maulavi. https://t.co/5jyCmkt3pm — Sonu Nigam (@sonunigam) 19 April 2017
And Press is welcome to participate at 2pm. — Sonu Nigam (@sonunigam) 19 April 2017
For the uninitiated, here’s what Nigam had tweeted a couple of days ago - “God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India. And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison? I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don't follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True? (sic)”.
