We are listing out 5 Tech ventures that were at the peak of fame once, but have now perished or been eclipsed by more cutting-edge ventures.

Blackberry, one of the most popular phone brands of the era before smartphones took over, has announced that it is ending support for BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions from 04 January 2022. The company said that as of January 4, devices running these legacy services and software through either carrier or WiFi connections will no longer reliably function, including for data, phone calls, SMS and 9-1-1 functionality.

Eastman Kodak once enjoyed the pole position in the photographic film industry. However, in 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012, capping a prolonged plunge for one of America's best-known companies. Kodak, which invented the hand-held camera and brought photography to the masses, could not keep pace with the changing times and went into obsoleteness.

Luxury phone manufacturer Vertu also fell from grace in 2017, as the company was constantly struggling to deal with its finances, with a liability of millions of dollars to its partners. Other affordable and more high-tech smartphones outpaced the luxury phone manufacturer, thus pushing it to complete collapse.

Nokia enjoyed a leadership position in the mobile telecom space, but eventually turned obsolete for many as Android smartphones opened their doors for the consumers. Although Nokia did make a comeback with its Windows and Android phones, the phone maker could never claim the top spot as it enjoyed previously. It had to give way to other smartphone companies with cutting-edge technology.

Yahoo mail that a saw glorious time in the Indian internet market, shut down its news websites in India that includes Yahoo News, Yahoo Cricket, Finance, Entertainment and MAKERS India in August 26, 2021. The company has ceased publication of content in India and has shut down Yahoo's content operations in the country.
