Independence Day 2022: Ten patriotic films to binge watch
This year, India will commemorate its 75th anniversary of independence, and as in previous years, it will be a festive occasion. Everyone has some sort of plan for this day, but if you are one of the people who hasn't made any plans yet, then we have some ideas for you. On the 15th of August, you can spend the day by watching some of the best movies to give a boost to your patriotic feelings.
Kesari
The movie which was written and directed by Anurag Singh was one of the biggest hits of the year. The movie is based on the incredible true story of the Battle of Saragarhi, in which an army of 21 Sikhs led by their commander Havaldar Ishar singh ( Akshay Kumar) fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran
The movie, which starred John Abrahim in the lead role, is based on real events. The plot is based on the nuclear bomb tests conducted at Pokhran in 1998 by the Indian Army under the direction of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, during the Atal Vihari Vajpayee regime. The film is beautifully shot and hooks you from the start, and the songs in the film are fantastic.
Chak De India
The movie tells the tale of a disgraced former captain of an Indian men's hockey team who makes a triumphant comeback as a coach of a weak Indian women's hockey team. The film, which was directed by Shimit Amin, stars Shahrukh Khan in the lead role.
Lagaan
The movie, which was India's official selection for the Oscars, was written and directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and starred Aamir Khan in the lead role.The movie's narrative centres on the residents of a small town in Victorian-era India who stake their future on a cricket match against their brutal British rulers.
Raazi
The story of an Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent who, at her father's request, marries into a family of military personnel in Pakistan to convey information to India before to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 is based on Harinder Sikka's 2008 novel Calling Sehmat. Raazi was directed by Meghna Gulzar and starred Alia bhatt as the main lead.
Rang De Basanti
The acclaimed director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's film 'Rang de Basanti' reminds us the true meaning of freedom while evoking feelings of patriotic brotherhood. This is the tale of six young Indians who help an English woman shoot a documentary on the historical freedom warriors in their country, and the incidents that cause them to relive the long-forgotten freedom epic.
Uri: The Surgical Strike
The story is about Indian army special forces conducting a secret operation to avenge the murder of other soldiers at their base by a terrorist organization. The movie, which became a massive success, was written and directed by debutant filmmaker Aditya Dhar.
Shershah
Bollwood actor Siddharth Malhotra portrayed the autobiographical role of Captain Vikram Batra, who bravely fought and died in the Kargil War against Pakistan. The movie, which was released in 2021, was directed by Vishnuvardhan.
Swades
The movie, directed by 'Lagaan' star Ashutosh Gowarikar, was way ahead of its time and was lauded by the critics. The story revolves around a man who returns to India and advocates for some reforms in his village.
Mother India
The story revolves around a poor woman who struggled mightily to raise her sons. But despite her challenges, she consistently upholds her own moral standards. The movie, which was released in 1957, was directed by Mehboob Khan and starred actress Nargis in the lead role.
