Delhi-Meerut RRTS project is going on in full swing, check pictures here

The 82 km long Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Corridor is the first RRTS corridor being implemented in India.

 

It will bring down the commute time from Delhi to Meerut to less than an hour.

The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train can attain a top speed of 180 kilometres per hour on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor.

 

Each car will have six automatic plug-in type wide doors, three on each side (Business Class will have four such doors, two on each side) for ease of access and exit.

 

The RRTS trains will have transverse 2x2 seating with adequate legroom, optimized aisle width with grab handles and grab poles for a comfortable journey for standing passengers, overhead luggage rack, mobile/laptop charging sockets and onboard Wi-Fi among other computer-centric features. 

Metro services with 12 stations on an 18 km stretch between Modipuram and Meerut South stations on RRTS infrastructure will benefit the people of Meerut besides providing efficient regional connectivity.

Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, on Tuesday (June 15, 2021) said that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has cast the first pier of the viaduct near the upcoming Ashok Nagar station in Delhi.

 

The elevated section is 9.2 Km long.

Currently, construction works of three underground stations and tunnels on the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) project is going on.

The elevated RRTS section in the national capital starts from Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station and passes above the Barapullah Flyover to reach the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station.

The total cost of the project is over Rs 30,274 crores.

The Union Cabinet had approved India's first Regional Rail between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut with Metro in Meerut in February 2019.
