During her opening remarks at the Congress Working Committee meeting, Sonia Gandhi said that their preparations for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections had already begun.
"Undoubtedly, we face many challenges, but if we are united, if we are disciplined and if we focus on the Party's interest alone, I am confident that we will do well," she said.
Sonia also commented on October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri incident
Sonia also spoke on the 'shocking incidents' in Lakhimpur Kheri and attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. She said that the recent incident 'betrays' the mindset of BJP, how it perceives Kisan Andolan (farmers' protest) and how it has been dealing with this determined struggle by farmers to protect their lives and livelihoods.

"I am, if you will allow me to say so, a full-time and hands on Congress President....," Sonia Gandhi told the Congress' top brass.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress chief ministers Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan, Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh and Charanjit Singh Channi of Punjab also attended the meeting.
Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma were also present during the meeting at the AICC headquarters.
