Rajasthan: Teen suffers brain damage after rape, forced abortion

Jaipur: A Class-12 Rajasthan girl, raped allegedly by her teacher and the director of the school, has suffered brain damage after she had been forced to undergo an abortion.

The duo, identified as Jagdish and Jagat respectively, had been raping the 18-year-old student for a long time.

Both the accused had reportedly made the victim stay back on the pretext of extra classes and raped her, reported NDTV.

"The girl was operated upon twice. No proper care was taken and because of lack of oxygen, her brain is damaged... It seems to be a permanent damage," Dr DS Meena, superintendent of Jaipur's SMS Medical College told NDTV.

Meanwhile, the district administration has closed down the school for an indefinite period.

The accused have been taken into remand and are being interrogated, said Sikar district police chief Vinit Kumar.

The victim's statement, however, is yet to be recorded owing to her unstable medical status.

According to police, raids are being conducted at the clinic where the victim's abortion was undertaken.

"We are also seizing all medical records at the clinic where the abortion took place," Kumar added.
