Indian umpires CK Nandan, Anil Chaudhary and C Shamshuddin were paid close to Rs 4 million (Rs 40 lakh) for officiating in IPL 2016, reports suggested.
Delhi-based Chaudhary took home Rs 39,63, 762.00 (Rs 39.63 lakh) while Nandan and Shamshuddin walked away with Rs 40,83,876 (Rs 40.83 lakh) each.
K N Ananthapadmanabhan was paid Rs 26.65 lakh, while former India pacer Javagal Srinath received Rs 26 lakh (Rs 26,42,508) as match referee during the nineth edition of the cash-rich league.
This is a good step taken by the BCCI. Not just players but every stakeholder should be paid well for doing their duties deligently.
Umpires and referees are under tremendous pressure during high-profile games and deserve the big money they are being paid.
