New Delhi: Several cricket fans were beaming with joy as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to recall discarded left-hander Gautam Gambhir back into the Indian set up.
Gambhir, who was an integral part of the Indian team from 2008-2012, has been recalled as a replacement for opener Lokesh Rahul, who sustained a right hamstring injury during the first Test at Kanpur.
The Delhi left-hander had made a strong case for a comeback with a brilliant show in the Duleep Trophy. Hence his fans were left devastated after he was ignored for the three-match Test series against New Zealand. But Gambhir's hard work finally paid off as it was difficult for the selectors to ignore his sublime form.
Soon after the news of his comeback broke, his fellow team-mates at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) erupted with joy as wishes poured in for Gambhir.

Gambhir too, was excited about his Test return, as he took to Twitter to thank the Indian board and said he was feeling excited like a debutant ahead of the second Test against New Zealand at Eden Gardens. (Did captain Virat Kohli give green light to Gautam Gambhir's Test recall?)
