Senanayake chosen Lanka team manager

Colombo, July 22: Sri Lanka today appointed former batsman Charith Senanayake as the manager of their cricket team ahead of the Test series against India starting tomorrow after rejecting ex-captain Hashan Tillakaratne for the job.The three-match Test series against India starts tomorrow.

Announcing Senanyake`s appointment, Sri Lanka Cricket media manager Shane Fernando said the decision has been ratified by sports minister Gamini Lokuge. Lokuge had yesterday rejected Tillakaratne`s nomination from Sri Lanka Cricket, saying the former captain could not be considered due to his active involvement in politics.
