Jean Claude Van Damme wants `Avengers` role

Los Angeles: Action star Jean Claude Van Damme says he would love to star in `The Avengers 2` because he thinks it would be fun.

The 52-year-old actor was happy to learn that Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel series, wanted him to land a role in the forthcoming comic book caper. Van Damme said that he has always been a fan of the franchise and its former president and chairman Stan Lee. "It was my pleasure to meet Mr Stan Lee back in 1994, along with Mr Samuel & Mr Victor Hadida," he wrote on Facebook. "I read that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) would like me to co-star in `The Avengers 2` movie! Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again," he added. The actor also went on to suggest a number of comic book characters he would like to be considered for, both within the Marvel world and from other comic books. "By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel`s superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage - the Man of Bronze," he said. PTI
