New Delhi: The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on June 29 cleared the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

A K Mathur panel had recommended overall 23.55 percent hike - basic pay plus allowances -  for Central government employees and pensioners.

Although, the government has accepted the suggestion about hike of 14.27 percent in the basic pay, suggestions relating to hike in allowances have been referred to a Committee headed by Finance Secretary.

The decision related to them will only be cleared after 4 months.

So, the Central government employees and pensioners will only avail 14.27 percent hike in the basic pay out of the overall salary now as decision related to increase in allowances is still to be materialized by the newly formed Committee.
